WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY
Well after 2 weeks of the giddy heights of 2lb losses, I've come crashing down to reality with a no-gain-no-loss week. I'm not up-set about this - just frustrated. Still, I know, having done it recently, I am determined to crack it next week - so expect a change in the weather! Hey-Ho, in the knowledgeable words of IVANA TRUMP: "It is vot it is, Baby!" Here's to a loss next week, watch
this space......
TESTAMENT of YOUTH
During the week I went to a BAFTA Screening of what was considered one of the greatest war memoirs ever written, the Testament of Youth is a true-life account of Vera Brittian's life from 1914 - 1918, and a chronicle of how the First World War affected not only her, but the nation's lives. Yes, I'm sure it is all those things, but as a movie it is extremely worthy - but it has nothing that we haven't seen a dozen times before and I'm struggling to see if it will find an audience. The best part of the evening was bumping into an old friend - Charles Garrad (The Set Designer of the
Film that we made together "An Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down A Mountain") We were joined after by his charming wife Mary and we went and had dinner at a Restaurant I've not been to for years:
Mon Plaisir 21 Monmouth St, London, WC2H 9DD
Mon Plaisir is a delightful French Restaurant I used to go to in the days when I was working for the RSC at the Aldwych Theatre. It's just the same and just as good - made even better by:
Charles picking up the Bill as you can see in the above photo - RESULT!! Thanks Charles!!
MAISIE McNEICE
(Claim to fame)
I got an email from Maisie in the week to say she was appearing in a film about the Artist Steve Simpson. It shows Maisie demonstrating Screen Printing and the result is one of Steve's Prints.
Here are a few Stills from the film and at the end you will find a link to the film itself.
Maisie's Email:
"At 5 mins in there is a snippet about an Artist Steve Simpson that I helped printing for in the studio. You see me there for two and a half seconds but thought you can see what I do....."

PITCH & PUTT
Palewell Pitch & Putt Course
During the week I managed to persuade my good friend Robert Dickson to play a bright & early round of Nine Holes at my favourite Pitch and Putt course at Palewell Common near East Sheen. We were on the Course by 9:30am and the sun came out to greet us. Robert noticed my swing was more wrist induced, rather than a full body swing, so he suggested I investigate a club called a Rescue Wood:
Product Description
One of the best solutions to the difficult to hit long irons is the Palm Springs Golf E2i Rescue Hybrid. Amongst the easiest to hit around, this ultimate rescue club can take on the toughest of lies from anywhere on the course.
I must say any club that has the word "Rescue"has got to be a help to my game! I am definitely going to try this out - certainly a good price - and if it gives me a chance of whipping Robert's arse then it's a must. Unfortunately at the moment the whipping is the other way around!
EURO DISNEY TRIP
Magda
My "Domestic Goddess from Poland" Magda recently took her son Max to Euro Disney - Here are some of her photographs from their Trip:
THE ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX
Well - my 20-1 Bet on Nico Rosberg came down to the final race of the Season - you don't get more exciting than that! Nico had won the previous race and if Lewis Hamilton had come second or lower in the Final Race I would have walked away with a £1000 win - on a £50 stake! As it was, Nico suffered power failure with his car and finished 14th, leaving Lewis to Lap him, win the Race and be crowned World Champion for the second time.
Lewis Wins The Race.
Nico congratulates Lewis on the way to the Podium.
Here's a little FACEBOOK communication between myself and Jimmy Roberts who gave me the tip in the first place! Thanks Jimmy!
Ok, Well done Lewis, You're the Man!
BIRMINGHAM COMIC CON
Well we are getting close to the end of the Season for Comic Cons, having done Belfast, Dublin. London, Glasgow and now Birmingham - I've only got the Welsh Comic Con left next week in Wrexham. Birmingham was made special by the attendance of:
I must say being a HUGE FAN of BREAKING BAD, I was intrigued that he was there - even though I was extremely jealous of the queue that was forming to see him!! Imagine my utter surprise when at the end of the Weekend he came up to me and gave me a signed photograph saying "I enjoy your work"!!! Wow!!!
I know My Little Darlings are all going to get a kick out of this - being huge fans of the Show themselves. I know Travers was pretty buzzed when he bumped into Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul)
at Las Vegas - not long ago.
Here are some of "The Usual Suspects":
This lovely Artist brought me her Winston Drawing to Sign.
Bumped into Christien Anholt, one of my Co-Stars in "The Blackheath Poisonings". Who tells
me he lives in Brentford of all places - wonders will never cease!!
COMMENTS
"You know what I say each week, any Comments will be gratefully received!"
Comment from PETRUS BOLTJES:
ReplyDeleteLove it scrumps! And stick in there. You looked great when you were over!
Hoping you will cream Rob in golf!
Such a shame about the Nico bet, but luckily we have an inside man and can get more future tips. Can I just say a quick something to Kate, Travers, and Jenny... nanananananananaaaaaa I commented before you!
ReplyDeleteNo worries about the no loss Ian, at least there is no gain! And you will be back on the loss train next week I am sure. Hope things are well x
Piss it I commented first thing this morning-where has it gone. Full of cheer and praise!
ReplyDeleteYou know what? No loss ........ big fucking deal! You've lost four pounds in the last two weeks and that's great! The holiday season is soon upon you and you just need to keep it together and not gain anything. I'm thinking, why not set a goal of another five pounds by the end of the year. That would be a total loss of 80 big ones in one year and that's bloody awesome! You can do it! Love the blog! For some reason I can't seem to watch Maisie's link, but I LOVE the photos of her working. Awesome! And congrats on almost winning the racing season! Such fun for you to be getting tips from Jimmy! I'm thinking that we should follow Jimmy! And I don't mean on Twitter, I mean in real life travel terms. We should just jump on his bandwagon and meet him for a race! Great to see Magda at Disneyland too! And I want to go to that restaurant! Enjoy all the screenings! Now! After reading this, grab a big glass of water or two and get it down you boy! I loves ya! Love, Cins xxoo
ReplyDeleteDon't be disheartened dad, like Cindy says you have done great work the past two weeks so stick with what was working! A shame about Nico, but huge scenes nonetheless. As a breaking bad fanboy I am very jealous of your comicon trip, and also very intrigued by the portrait in which you look like you are melting slightly! Please let me know how things go with the new club when it arrives, can't wait to hit the course again with you. Lots of love, Gus xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for the mention of me and its great since no one can see it so gives them an idea. No worries about the no loss, you had no gain so thats what matters. Don't be too hard on your self you will do better next week! I can't wait to see you and so happy to shoe you around again. I love you loads and very proud of the loss you have had over the past while. You need to give your self a big pat on the back! Very jealous you met your man from Breaking Bad, and very impressed with him acknowledging your good work! xxxx
ReplyDeleteIt's the time of year where we all might get frustrated with waistlines and scales, but you haven't gained any back which is great. To combat the plateau, are you experimenting with more water intake? I liked Cindy's recommendation.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED getting to see Maisie in action, you chose great still shots of her! I'm a big fan of her work. And speaking of which, I'm also jealous that RJ MItte seems to be a big fan of yours! I loved his character and thought he did a great job in BB.
And although everyone in the family is a little disappointed that the Nico wager didn't turn out, but maybe your improving golf swing will help you compensate with golf sharking people on the course.
I know this comment comes a bit late but please accept my deepest apologies for the delay. As with fitness, we can't let communications lag just because it's the holidays.
Lots of love,
Jenny
Sorry for the delay! A no gain week is always a positive, hopefully there will be a loss to report in a couple of days. HUGE fan of Breaking Bad, love his autograph for you, very cool. Also Maisie looks gorgeous, loving of the photos of her in action. Really bummed about Nico, would have been a huge result! Much love, Trav
