"THE APPLE OF MY EYE OR SHOULD THAT READ....iPHONE??"

WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY

Well, this week I do have a Loss to report, however meagre it may be, a loss is still a loss.
1 lb off Now I know the likes of the EVIL ONE are going to throw their arms in the air and
cry out: "Not good enough, must try harder!" But in my defence, it is a known fact that when
one has been dieting for a while, people do hit a barren plateau,  which in some cases
can last for a matter of months! God forbid! Let's hope that this weeks paltry loss can open the
door to the challenge of seeing the EVIL ONE on the Golf Course in female attire!

iPhone 6 Plus

Oh yes! I have in my hand the new iPhone 6 Plus and I'm LOVING IT. I love all
the new features it has - Slow Motion Video, Time Lapse Photos, etc - but most of
all I love the size. OMG if you're a Freedom Bus Pass/Tube Oyster Card holder of a
certain age you're going to love the bigger texting opportunities that the iPhone 6 Plus
gives you - it is great!! I've been having a casual romance with my iPhone 6 Plus and
it hasn't bent out of shape once. "So ye of little faith - pick up your iPhone 6 plus and
send me a message now!"

BRENTFORD SUNDAY MARKET

Brentford Market began life in 1306 with a Royal Charter to the nuns of St Helen’s in Bishopsgate. They were also allowed a fair for six days from the eve of St Lawrence’s Day on August 10th. Both the market and the fair were in existence in the town for more than 600 years.

This is the announcement for next Sunday's Market:

BRENTFORD FOOTBALL CLUB

Under a certain amount of pressure from one of my family - I've joined Brentford F.C. This
club is probably a 15 minute walk from my flat. So it really is very local - just down the road!
As you can see from the map below,  my flat is in Tallow Road which is in the far left bottom
of the map:

Brentford  are doing really well at the moment they are 10th in the Championship League
I've got a past programme so I can get acquainted with some of their players. The nick-name
for the club is "The Bees" - which makes total sense that a local pub we pass all the time is called
"The Beehive"!!

The next home game that I can go to is Tuesday the 21st October against Sheffield Wednesday - I'm really hoping that Angus can go with me, if he hasn't already left for Uruguay!

"A GOLFING TIT-BIT"

I've been going quite a lot to my favourite Pitch & Putt course in Roehampton. The
other day I did drive off the tee at the 8th hole and was pleased when I saw it had landed on
the green!

It wasn't until I got to the green that I realised how close my ball was to the hole:

Needless to say I got a 2 for that hole - or 1 under par - which is a birdie!

MILES SLOMAN

Miles is a young chap I've known for a number of years - his father, Robert owns the farm near
Port Isaac that has our DOC MARTIN SETS in one of his metal Barns. Robert is the first person to
know whether we are due to make another Series of the show,  because they have to contact him
early on to negotiate renting his barn for a further period. And guess who's one of the first people
to contact Robert to find out if we will be returning to Port Isaac for another delightful summer? Yes!
you've guessed right - guilty as charged! Recently,  Robert's Son Miles,  has been a runner on the show. A runner is a general dog's body on the show. So it was with great excitement that I received this email from Miles a while ago:

"I just thought I'd drop you an email to say that I've just finished my first feature film out in Tunisia for American production company River Rain - it was a real baptism of fire. It's about the David and Goliath story and I was playing David which was pretty awesome. It was a challenging shoot with a crazy director but I feel i've learnt a huge amount doing it (I've attached a little photo of me and Goliath...he's 7 foot 7!).

Oh, by the way, Miles is on the Left!

Miles and his girlfriend Kit have just been in Los Angeles where he attended the Premiere of "David
and Goliath" at 20th Century Fox - amazing! He told me they were planning to go on  a road trip to San Francisco,  so I told him to get in touch with Travers & Jenny. I'm thrilled that they all managed to meet up and apparently got on like a house on fire. God knows what stories Miles must have told Travers and Jenny about what a demanding little Diva his father was on the Set of Doc Martin!!

Looks like they've all had a pretty good night out at a brand new Mexican place, which had only just opened,  where they had lashings of spicy margaritas and tacos - Thanks to Travers & Jenny for being such hospitable hosts - I'm sure Miles & Kit must have appreciated it a lot..xx

FITBIT NEWS

Above is my Fitbit Stats for the day - Tuesday 30th September - there are a couple of queries:
Firstly my Sleep Total of 11hrs and 26mins - was because I forgot to turn off the Sleep Mode
until 4 o'clock in the afternoon - a tad late! The other query is the Floor Stats - apparently
I had walked up 70 flights of Stairs during the day! Which prompted an email from Fitbit
themselves saying:

Now I've been on the Pitch and Putt Course today where I might have climbed out of the odd
sand-trap - but 70 Flights of Stairs?? - that's going some! Unfortunately I think the little
escapade with the washing machine,  that I mentioned a few Blogs a go, might be having
a delayed reaction now. But Hey, if it gets me another "Badge with Fitbit", who's complaining??!!
A warm welcome to Jenny McNeice who has become my new Fitbit Friend!

"JOSEPH  AND HIS AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT"

(AS POTIPHAR IN JOSEPH)

If you've got time cut & past this link - & enjoy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLt6M4r7VLQ

I received this forwarded email from my Agents today:

Begin forwarded message:

"I am emailing to discuss whether Ian McNeice would be able to spare 10-15 mins of his time to film a short interview for inclusion in an hour long BBC-1 programme in which Fern Britton interviews Donny Osmond about his life in showbiz.

We would love to include Ian's insight on working with Donny in the movie 'Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat' and his perspective on Donny's long career in the industry."
Now I would dearly love to recount the story of me being hurried through a 2 hour make-up
at the end of a day's shoot for some publicity photographs that I was to have taken with my then
wife in the show -  Mrs Potiphar, (played by Joan Collins). When they eventually finished my make-up and I was taken to the set for the photo shoot I was told that Joan had decided she couldn't wait any longer, as she had a dinner date,  and had gone home! When I eventually
got home myself I found I had a voice message from Donny Osmond: "Hey Buddy, so sorry to hear
what happened today.." All my frustration and anger evaporated - I had just been called
"Buddy" by Donny Osmond - things don't get better than that! Much as I would love to tell
that story - I will probably have to say "And they called it Puppy Love" was a ground-breaking
landmark in my early puberty years!

HERE IS A SPECIAL COMMENT FROM PETER MISHCON:

    Sir(s),

It has come to the attention of our client, the esteemed and estimable (Emmy nominated, Peabody winning, shall I go on?) CHRISTOPHER MONGER (cue applause) that his image has been used in a derogatory manner, viz, his face crudely collaged onto a woman's for 'comic effect', said purpose being to divert your readers (sic) from the fact that your 'Fitbit' numbers are obviously falsified (ie habitually aided by a washing machine) and your week's weight loss adds up to one decent bladder evacuation and a good fart.

Insofar as our client has offered (against our advice) - should you lose 100lbs - to play a round of golf dressed in women's attire, this magnanimous and foolhardy promise (which our client assures us will never happen because 'he's plateaud out') should not be prematurely, precipitously or impulsively exploited by crude and scabrous depictions BEFORE said loss of 100 pounds.

We would remind you that in our client's words "I know where the skeletons are" and that apart from his threats to publish his long awaited book "McNeice, What Really Happened Behind The Bike Sheds:The Gay Young Boarding School Years", we will sue for slanderous misuse of image.

    Very most seriously,

    Harry Dewey.

  4. Well who can follow a comment like that from Chief Hellhound?

You nearly had a hole in one, that's amazing. The meagre pound off is less amazing, remember you're playing for a 75lb poster/trophy, and based on the last one Trav cooked up I think you want to see the next one.

I'm happy and annoyed that we're fitbit friends. I saw your email and thought immediately, oh fuck now I have to start wearing mine again just to keep up.

I am looking forward to some healthy competition, and what fit little bits we'll become!

    Lots of love,
    Jenny

  5. Howzit! Although someone attributes your weight loss this week to "one decent bladder evacuation and a good fart" I would like to say congratulations on your 1lbs loss. I'll take a loss any day of the week. So keep up the good work. Maybe mix it up this week, make a few changes, and see what happens?

Loving the golf updates. And WHAT A SHOT! Very tidy birdie indeed. After playing in Littlehampton I caught the bug, so this weekend went to go play golf at the Golden Gate Park course. It's a lovely 9 hole course, and probably the best way to describe it would be a cross between a pitch n' putt and a proper golf course. No need for a driver, but still quite daunting for someone with the skill set of a baboon. No birdies anytime soon for this guy! But this course is a must when you come visit next (when will that be???).

It was a pleasure meeting Miles and Kit, what a delightful couple. He had noting but lovely things to say about you.

Jenny and I are off tomorrow for a long weekend in Santa Barbara for a dear friends wedding, but will be sure to see Oaks, so expect some photos coming your way.

Much love and lets loose some weight this week! Trav xx

  6. A loss is a loss and always a good thing when it comes to dieting. You won't be getting no sh*t from me, especially on the eve of your birthday (have a great day by the way) - try not to put it back on in birthday cake! Lots of love, Ems xxx

  7. I will never give you a hard time for a loss — well done father, and keep it up. So glad you're a Brentford member now — I can't wait to go to a game with you, if not this season then next.

Oh, and what a shot! having played that very course with you I know how excited you must have felt. I don't think we got anywhere near a birdie when we played.

I remember watching you as potipher, a sterling performance. And look how at how different you look these days!

Happy, happy birthday Big Daddy xx

  8. I should have known that I wasn't the apple of your eye! Damn! Congrats on the pound loss! It does seem like you should be losing more with all the activities you are pursuing. I can vouch that you are keeping busy and that you have so much energy. Our 10 hour day yesterday wore me out, but you were still energised at 3am! Go figure! If weight loss were attributed to a good fart, then you should have hit your goal years ago and the evil one would still be in drag! Bring it on! Another great blog! So happy that you are golfing again! What's next? Tennis?

    Love, Cins xxoo
