WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY
Good Morning Everybody! Doesn't time fly when you're trying to lose weight!
It only seems like yesterday that I was stepping on those Scales! Well, I have to
report that there IS a Loss this week, if only a SMALL ONE! Still a Loss is
a Loss and not - the dreaded weight gain. A very meagre 1lb is all I can share
with you - possibly due to a very delicious couple of helpings of HAIRY BIKERS
LITE BEEF GOULASH (306 Calories per portion) that I made during the week:
Absolutely Yummy - also another naughty little treat I made for myself was:
THE HAIRY BIKERS CHEWY CRANBERRY AND APRICOT BITES (89 Calories
per Bite Size Piece) irresistible! Very moist & moorish!
6 NATIONS RUGBY WEEKENDS
A total guilty passion of mine has been watching the 6 NATIONS RUGBY
TOURNAMENT each weekend recently. Some years ago I attended the Irish Premiere
of THE BOAT THAT ROCKED in Dublin with my daughter, Maisie. It was there that I
met one of my heroes - the Irish Rugby Player - Brian O'Driscoll.
It was 4 days after he had Captained Ireland to their historic Six Nations Triple
Crown Win in March 2009. This Weekend saw him receive a rousing ovation as he
made his last international appearance on Irish Soil before retiring from the game for good.
Ireland's crushing 46-7 win over Italy was largely due to the contribution of Brian
O'Driscoll and it was no surprise that he received the RBS Man of the Match Award.
He said: "I feel humbled by the reaction. It seems a bit of of a joke that you get get man of the match for 60 minutes, but I have loved my time playing in this jersey. It had to come to an end at some stage and I am glad to go out at home with a big win.It will only properly set in when I have had a bit of time." This is the man that has appeared in a 140 Test Matches and was hoping to end his Ireland Career by lifting the Six Nations Trophy in Paris next Saturday.
Even though I support England on a regular basis there is a secret part of me that hopes O'Driscoll gets his wish! Here's to him for a fabulous career and many enjoyable hours of watching his incredible skill in action!
FOOD & WATCHING SPORT!
Talking about the 6 NATIONS RUGBY on my Diet Blog got me thinking about Food & Watching Sport - I have to say, I think the Americans (Hello there Cindy!) are streaks ahead of us, Brits, with this. I took my son Travers to his first ever Baseball Game in Los Angeles
to watch the LA DODGERS where we came across:
THE 7TH INNINGS STRETCH
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowd;
buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game.
The "Dodger Dog" was indeed the best Hot Dog I ever had!
And as for the PEANUTS......
SUPERBOWL SUNDAY SNACKS
Well - Try saying NO to that TV Watching Treat!!
"A CANTERBURY TALE"
During the week I had a little outing - I took the train to Canterbury where I
met up with the delightful and extremely talented Artist:
DAVID HINCHCLIFFE.
We had a delicious lunch (Chicken Livers - sadly off the Richter
Scale with the Calories!!) in David's Local Cafe, Boho, close to his Painting
Studio in Canterbury. David is the father of Joe, who is the Editor of
the Santiago Times, the Newspaper my Son, Angus, the Deputy Editor, writes
for in Chile. When I first met David he gave me a present of a portrait of myself
he had done from a photograph he had found on the Internet - amazing:
David was preparing for an Exhibition of his Paintings that opens this Evening
at The Battersea Art Fair:

A BIG THANK YOU!
Finally a big thank you to all of you that have been leaving comments on my Blog,
especially Jenny who emailed me yesterday wanting an update on when the Blog
was coming out - now there's keenness for you! Here's to another good week with
Hmmm beaming love but no cigar for 1lb....I know I'm a b.i.t.c.h. a well know fact. You certainly could not hate me more than the child who is furiously re-writing a peice of abominable work he has just given me!!! Well maybe you could...love you and well done (ish). Next week 2lbs and the praise will be LAVISHED. xxx
ReplyDeleteWow! Tough love for the Blog eh? Tough Crowd!!! xxx
DeleteHa ha Neice yes I know 'tough love' for the blog but you see all your friends and family will be comfortaed by the knowledge that the b.i.t.c.h from Africa has been transended by the a.n.g.e.l bride from Kansas...who will coo sweet nothings into your ear. I Love you xxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteHave you been extending the Oscar-watching aerobics to the rugby-watching weekends? Stand up and cheer whenever they throw the little guy up in the air, or when they do one of those adorable little shoulder-to-shoulder group cuddles in the center of the field. Such a loving game, rugby.
ReplyDeleteTrav and I have been getting our workouts on the snow last weekend, he and his boys in Tahoe and me on a Bachelorette (hen-do) in Colorado. Ski all day, dance all night, eat thousands of calories and you can come home the same weight as you left, apparently.
Keep it up, Ian! Loss is loss although I tend to agree with this African lady.
Still, in honor, here is a reminder of what you've taken off:

Lots of love,
Jenny
So glad you and David met up!
ReplyDeleteThe Hairy Biker meals seem to be becoming ever more popular — I'd love to see your new and improved physique in some bike leathers at some point — not sure if you take photo requests? Keep up the loss big daddy, sending you love xxx
No gain! Well done. I'm loving your blog xxx
ReplyDeleteMYSTERY SOLVED!! The above came from Emily Bourke,
DeleteThanks Emily! xxx
Nicely done (not so big) daddy. Lots of love Oaks xx
ReplyDeleteOK, I can be just as b.i.t.c.h.y. as the next.............Here are some sweet fucking nothings..............And more tough love!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWTF?? Only 1 fucking pound you fat bastard! You can do better than that. I say:
1. Call that Hairy Dieter Biker friend of yours and ask for some pointers.
2. Then call Lisa, your nurse at the clinic, make an appointment, and then go and get some additional diet advice. I'm sure she has some tricks up her sleeve.
3. Then switch up the damn diet and make it a 4:3 instead of a 5:2. Just try it and see what happens. Maybe do it twice a month.
4. And make that appointment with the knee doctor and find out exactly how much weight he/she advises that you lose before you have a total knee replacement.
5. Buy a pair of bike leathers in a smaller size and make it your goal to fit into them the next time that you see Gussie!
JUST DO IT!
(Cooing): Sweetie, you know how much I love you! AND, I'm very proud of you for putting it all out there on your blog. (sweet nothings, sweet nothings, sweet nothings....). Love, a.n.g.e.l xxoo
It's a loss at least! Sorry I never got on it yearerday! Every one of your meals looks unreal! I can't wait to visit you and have a hairy biker feast!
ReplyDeleteI didn't really follow the rugby this year, you know what a shocker! But Driscoll does seem like a lovely guy.
That guys artwork is stunning! I it looks like it's been rained on. I have always loved that painting of you, how much is it selling for do you know?
ReplyDeleteHoping next week you are happier with your result, I think your dishes just look too god damn good! Xx
Stunning progress!!! There must now be a spot in the team to lead us to victory in Rome this weekend....I'm not sure about this Twelvetrees lad! Rob x

ReplyDeleteThis Recipe is from OLIVIA GOULDEN who works alongside Robert Dickson as his Developement Manager for City Innovations UK:
ReplyDelete"I have a nice recipe which my sister sent me - it's a portugese soup
that is seriously tasty and filling but healthy. Have copied and pasted
below in case you're ever looking for some inspiration! It's nice and quick
too. Olive x
Feeds 2.
- 1 can of black beans
- Couple of cherry toms roughly chopped
- Thumb length and a bit more of chorizo
- Couple of spring onions (sliced into little rings, separate the green top
slices and reserve for later)
- Chicken stock (use the jelly cubes - so much better!)
- Lime
- Coriander
Cut the chorizo into rings the thickness of a pound and then in half again,
heat gently in a saucepan (no need for oil as they release their own), once
crispy on both sides and their oil is released take out of the pan. Add the
sliced spring onion white bits and gently fry off, then add the tomatoes,
mix around till everything coated in lovely red oil and then add the drained
black beans - give it a quick mix and add the stock - as much as you want to
make the soup (roughly 500 ml as that's how much one jelly pot makes).
Ladle into bowls and add the chorizo, spring onion greens, a couple of bits
of coriander and a squeeze of lime juice - very tasty and embarrassingly
easy!
If you are serving this as a main course I would be tempted to be generous
with the chorizo, and add some flat breads."
