"Strawberries & Cream!"

WEIGH-IN WEDNESDAY

Good Morning to one and all. Well - some good news to report again!
And YES! It's another Weight Loss and this time it's 2.5lbs - So that's a relief!
I'm always nervous on a Wednesday Morning stepping on those Scales
as I know I have to report to YOU - friends and family - but that's a
Good Pressure because that keeps me trying every week - as a "loss"
represents a Silver Star from my "Weight-Watchers Days"!! Now I
have some apologies to make. Certain people last week - Kate, Jenny,
Christopher, Travers and Robert were all offended by the Naked Bike Ride
well, all I have to say is - "Get Over Yourselves!!" Because the Naked
Bike Ride is back in again - this time to judge the Caption Competition.
But please don't fret this time as there is ample warning that the
"Offending Photos" are back again - so you can scroll right by them.
For the Nature Lovers amongst you - Enjoy!!

EMILY

I've only just realised that I forgot to put Emily's Comment on from last week:

"I've only just noticed that the brilliantly witty comment I thought I'd posted onto your blog on Wednesday didn't work. For that I am very sorry. I must admit that it hasn't focused enough on your weight loss. I was far more worried about Angus' hair! Distracted by naked geriatrics on bikes and keen to offer my local services at your Brighton candle stall. Looking forward to Wednesday. Today I shall mostly be eating water melon - 6 week count down to our wedding starts now! I love you, Ems xxx"

Thanks Ems!

ANGUS

Also with a reference to last week. I may have offended Angus by including a
photo of him with a recent haircut styled on a Footballer hero. Here is his comment:

"HOW DID YOU INCLUDE THAT PHOTO WHEN I EXPRESSLY TOLD YOU NOT TO! What a bastard!  In return I insist that the next blog is nothing but photos of you staging a one-man naked bike ride around Brentford. Or I'll take a cut of your Rosberg winnings, either will do".

Cindy thought it was only fair to include the following photograph - with which I threatened her: "NEVER SHOW ANYONE"!!!

"The Good News is: I'm now a few dress sizes smaller than that!"

EMAIL TO MY AGENTS:

I sent my Theatrical Agents a progress report on my Weight Loss and
suggested that after a few more weeks of losing weight they should set
up a series of meetings with Casting Directors so they can see me in
"The Less Flesh" Look. They all agreed.

I also included some before and after Photos:

BEFORE

AFTER

WIMBLEDON 2014

Yes! it's that time of year again and Andy Murray is only 3 wins away from
retaining his Wimbledon title. On Monday he saw off the stubborn and
dangerous South African Kevin Anderson in straight sets.

THE JOURNEY SO FAR

Murray has not dropped a set so far in the tournament but he will be severely tested
against talented Grigor Dimitrov in Wednesday's quarter-final.

First round

Beat David Goffin (Bel)  6-1 6-4 7-5

Second round

Beat Blaz Rola (Slo)  6-1 6-1 6-0

Third round
Beat Roberto Bautista Agut (Spa)  6-2 6-3 6-2

Fourth round

Beat Kevin Anderson (SA)  6-4 6-3 7-6

Just caught the end of what must be the "Match of the Championship"
between Sharapova and the German, Angelique Kerber. Sharapova was
down 4-1 in the final set to come back to 5-4 and after incredibly saving
6 Championship points - only lost to the seventh. Fantastic stuff!

The Winner: Angelique Kerber.

Then of course there is the incredible Australian Wild Card. The 19 year old
Nick Kyrgios who blew Rafael Nadal off the court in a shocking 4 set win.

And how could you not celebrate the return of Wimbledon without:

STORE ST GALLERY EXHIBITION
32 Store St, London, WC1E 7BS.

Last Thursday I went to the opening Exhibition of the Australian Painter,  David Hinchliffe,
in a Gallery just off the Tottenham Court Road. David had to fly back to Brisbane so
sadly he wasn't there but I managed to touch base with his Ossie Agent Bernie and
his niece Lucy. However I did see one of his paintings I hadn't seen before and love:

Battersea Power Station.

MY GODSON
(Sam Dickson)

If you look closely at the person in the middle of this photograph you will
see my Godson - Sam Dickson. I only include this photo as a reminder of
the type of life I would like to be living myself!

Apart from occasionally doing the odd week or two of work alongside
his father Robert Dickson with the Property Company City Innovations,
Sam can be regularly found surfing the waves of one exotic location after
another. I think he's wearing swimming trunks but on closer inspection
it might be a thong!

"CHILE, OH CHILE...."

Another person living the dream is my Son, Angus who is still reporting from
the depths of Brazil for ESPN on the agonising loss of Chile to Brazil. What a
match - it had absolutely everything!

"The Boys in Brazil"

HERE IS AN EXERT FROM ONE OF ANGUS' RECENT REPORTS

Pinilla's career epitomised by one shot

Chile was 5 inches and 90 seconds away from breaking 200 million hearts on Saturday when Mauricio Pinilla shifted the ball expertly away from his marker and unleashed a shot out of Julio Cesar's reach. For a split-second the man known as "Pinigol" looked as if he would exchange his celebrity image for the status of a legend -- La Roja's pinup boy would become their Alcides Ghiggia. It was not to be, as the woodwork denied Chile the historic opportunity to act as double giant slayer. To pile the misery on Pinilla, his near-miss was followed up minutes later by a failed penalty attempt -- one of three that led to the country's fourth exit from a World Cup by the hand of Brazil. In a way, that split-second seconds before the ball rattled off the bar mirrored the trajectory of the journeyman striker's career -- so much thrilling early potential unfulfilled.

WARNING

(Re Kate Nicholls Comment:! "Re: nudity - please supply adequate warning before posting naked geriatrics ON BIKES: my morning coffee was ruined and quite a lot of the masterful beverage went up my nose!")

(Re: Jenny's Comment: "But have to second Kate, this made breakfast difficult. Especially as I'm eating at my desk!"

(Re: Christopher Monger Comment: "BUT, I'm sorry, I was quite put off my toast and coffee by the photos and won't be entering the caption contest: I am just too queasy to look at them again."

(Re: Travers McNeice Comment: "Dad your blog should come with a warning "DO NOT OPEN AT WORK". I was reading your blog and scrolling through the pictures and a co-worker walked by perfectly in time to see the very unflattering naked bikers.")

(Re: Robert Dickson Comment: " More importantly, avoid nudity, especially on bikes. This whole blog business is getting a little tacky. I've said this before, and I'm minded to say it again - try to think more about others and less about yourself.")

OMG!

"WHAT A LOAD OF TOTAL WUSSIES!"

"Good on yer Mate!"

SYON PARK

I took a walk the other day from my flat in Brentford along the road to the entrance
of Syon Park - then all the way through the park past the Garden Centre and then
along the drive way and out through the other entrance/exit - then along the road to the
London Apprentice Pub where I had a cup of tea and the returned home.
(so there and back approx 2 miles - or maybe longer - certainly the longest walk I've done for a while!)

  1. Chuffed to be your captions winner! Sorry to all your readers who lost their breakfast or morning tea or workmates as a result of being exposed to all those dangly bits. Terrible news about Chile. Son Joe is undergoing counselling. He has to be convinced that there's something left on earth to live for. I think the win by Aussie teenager Nick Kyrgios over Nadal has helped his convalescence. Great news about weight loss Ian. You really are an inspiration...but please no more photos of you at your blog desk in the altogether. If you must get naked, do the proper British thing and get on a bike and cycle down the streets of London like any self-respecting Brit. Love the blog!

  2. OH THIS ****ING BLOG SITE JUST ATE MY COMMENTS TWICE! So, in short order: I am outraged to see more geriatric nudity, outraged. Delighted to hear more pounds have gone and thrilled to see how different you look and that the casting directors have responded, yay. Am jealous that you live near my two favorite parks. Wish I could see EDGE OF DARKNESS again - I remember it as a cultural phenomenon - it was all anybody talked about, great work. Keep going, Baby - Evil x

  3. I have met Joe Hinchcliffe and I was profoundly impressed. A fine mind, an elegent turn of phrase and a wry wit. Clearly not inherited from his father! I know you and he are new BF's and perhaps I can only assume his capitulation to tasless photos of very old men on bikes is the result of young love. I urge Mr Hinchcliffe to aim for higher standards in the future. Having said that nice with the weight loss!

  4. Great job this week, once again. The before and after pix are shaping up really nicely, just wait until you reach that next milestone! I'm intrigued by this Addendum hunger relief tease, and curious to see what else is in store. Also, that picture of you from Edge of Darkness looks so much like Travers, safe to say you two handsome devils are directly related.

I love the comments from last week, and am trying to empathize with Emily and her watermelon days. Are you still doing those fast days, as well? What do you do to stay sane on so little food, or do you ever get used to it? You both are so strong it's amazing.

Happy 4th of July this weekend! We may not have advanced in the world cup but at least all the fans who jumped on the bandwagon will have another occasion to wear their stars and stripes. I hope you and Cindy light off some fireworks!

    xx

  5. Sweetie! How do you do it? The pounds just keep dropping off! What happens if you keep losing weight every week? Will you eventually be smaller than me? Will this just happen until you are nothing? Hhhmmm??? My favorite thing is that you are walking! I've been doing it alone for so many years and now you are by my side. AND, you now have more energy than me!

I had completely forgotten about watermelon! Great job, Ems! I know that you are looking gorgeous!!!!!

Happy 4th!!!! So sad about Murray, damn it!

    Love, Cins xxoo

  6. Dad I have got to stop reading your blog at work! I burst into tears seeing the before and after photo. My god you look so different. You look amazing. Jesus Christ I can't get over it. I am so proud of you and so excited at yet another week of weight loss. You are on a major roll. I can not wait to see everyone in just over a month!

Great blog again the captions made me laugh a lot. Devastated for Chile but it is quite a wonderful world cup so far. Jenny and I are off to Washington for the 4th of July, will send you and Cindy some photos. Maybe even some water skiing shots... Again so proud of you, keep it up! What's the total loss? Can we get that figure in next weeks blog? Love, Trav

  7. Dad I can't get over the before and after shot! You look incredible. And while the repeat of the incriminating haircut photo is entirely unnecessary, it is worth it just to see THAT image of you in your birthday suit. Phwoar.

Thanks for the shout out for the ESPN blog. So sad Chile was dumped out and the project it over, though the boys in red put up such a fight we can be proud of them.

I for one loved the naked bike ride shots and I'm happy that we relived every single one of them in this blog. Kudos to Hinchliffe for those captions.

Can't wait to come on a few walks with you next month, love you lots, G xx

  9. Comment by MAISIE:

Aaaahhh I'm not going to risk loosing everything on your blog again so writing a comment in here. I wrote about four paragraphs and lost it ALL!!! I wanted to cry when it happened.

Well I said something like this:

Those before and after shots of you are amazing and you can see how much weight you have lost really well in the picture of you standing by the pub! Thank you for sharing these pictures, its so difficult being so far away and I love seeing your progress. You must be unbelievably proud of your progress and I can't tell you how happy it has made me seeing you do so well. I really am bursting with pride for you. You are such an inspiration, I think you should go back to your friends in weight watchers and do a talk. Take those mug shots with you!! I showed Leon those pictures and he couldn't believe how well you are looking, he said you look amazing.

That walk you did looked breathtaking and I would love to do it with you when I am over next.

As for the nudity I am and have always been a big fan of a bit of Shlong so doesn't fase me...keep em coming! I did like Big Ben Little Ben however I think my favourate on is number 5! "Watch that cross bar old man!"--who's was that?

I am not home at the moment but when I am I am going to put edge of darken on record. I can't wait. And OMG Trav looks just like you in that picture!! I love you little man and you should be very proud. Xxxxxxxxx

  10. Comment from PETER MISHCON:

The blog space for replies seized up, so email is the best I can do.......

Daaarling Neicy.....known you a long time. Yep even before 'Edge of Darkness'. Love the 1985 photo, but so great to see you approaching your prime ,fitter, leaner and walking the long walk. The achievements are awesome; keep on blogging them. And, I'm with Travis.....let us in on the total shed. And show us the furnishings made from your discarded clothing; let us peep through the keyholes of your bare kitchen cupboards; continue to inspire us with the power of Will over Temptation. But please.......no more naked cyclists. Please.
Bigger love for our smaller friend
    Peter x
